Philips Hue Launches New Wall Washer, Adds AI Assistant
New smart lighting options and AI features expand the Hue ecosystem.
The newest offering from Philips Hue, a smart lighting company, is a wall washer available in multiple markets. Simultaneously, the company is integrating a new AI assistant into its app, providing users with more ways to personalize their lighting.
New Hardware Features
Available now in the US, Canada, and Europe, the Philips Hue Play Wall Washer comes in white or black finishes. The single unit costs $219.99, while the two-pack is priced at $384.99. While this is more expensive than the Philips Hue Light Bar, the Wall Washer projects up to 1,035 lumens of colored or white light.
The Wall Washer uses upward-angled LEDs to cast a wider light dispersion. Users can adjust its intensity, brightness, and position using the Hue app’s intuitive 3D drag-and-drop feature. The device is compatible with voice assistants such as Apple‘s Siri, Amazon‘s Alexa, and Google Assistant.
AI-Powered Lighting
Announced earlier this year, Philips Hue‘s new AI assistant generates new lighting scenes or suggests existing ones based on typed or spoken prompts within the app. For example, a user could request, Give me a scene for a spooky Halloween party.
The assistant can also modify brightness and color settings.

Future Developments
Additional features, including automation and scheduling, are slated to be available “later this year” within the Philips Hue app, as is in-app support via a chatbot.
These new products and features demonstrate Philips Hue‘s commitment to innovation and to offering consumers more ways to customize their home lighting experience.
