Phase three begins: Restaurants, trips and shops return to Peru

The month of the homeland is coming hard. Not only is the quarantine lifted since Wednesday, July 1, but the economy enters a decisive stage with the start of phase 3 of the economic revival.

The Minister of Production, Rocío Barrios, said yesterday that in this period a series of complementary activities and services return, such as in-person attention in restaurants.

To restart their operations, these establishments must comply with the sanitary protocols established by the health authorities to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The head of Produce said that this phase will also resume, among others, photographic services and research activities, with which Peru would approach having about 97% of its economic activities back on track.

“What are (the activities that are going to open)? They will be able, after reservation, to enjoy a lunch in a restaurant that complies with all protocols, those who carry out photographic activities will also be able to start in this phase. Also investigation activities, among others, ”Barrios said in an interview with TV Peru.

“The proposal is that all of these activities will help us reach almost 97% of economic activities already open to date,” he stressed.

Barrios specified that the regulations that the Executive will issue in the coming days “will set the conditions for how the return of these activities will be and how they will operate.”

“We are already seeing a greater dynamism of companies that are already operating and now, with the lifting of the quarantine, we are going to see direct trade being generated, which makes our economy much more dynamic. Now not only focused on the topic of food, but on any other type of economic activities, “he said.

In addition, he highlighted the need for businessmen and entrepreneurs to respect the guidelines established for the return of various businesses and asked citizens to comply with the permanent use of masks, hand washing and disinfection, as well as with social distancing.

OPPORTUNITY. At another time, Barrios argued that during phase 3, land and air transportation will be included between regions that are not within the targeted quarantine.

This excludes Arequipa, Ica, Junín, Huánuco, San Martín, Madre de Dios and Áncash, which will maintain their traffic restrictions.

This information was confirmed yesterday by Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos, who also stressed that Peru will maintain the closure of borders due to the pandemic.

“We are talking about the resumption of domestic flights, as well as intercity transport, for this purpose these seven regions are excluded,” he said in RPP.

Zeballos said that in the next few days the Ministry of Transport and Communication will issue specific protocols for these activities.

Barrios: “The responsibility is shared”

The head of Produce, Rocío Barrios, urged citizens not to go to restaurants with people who are part of the risk group for COVID-19, such as children, older adults or with pre-existing diseases. She also advised avoiding crowds and misuse of private cars from July. “The responsibility is shared,” he said.
