PGR investigates alleged breach of isolation of the mayor of Paços de Ferreira

The Public Ministry opened an investigation into the alleged non-compliance with the prophylactic isolation of the Mayor of Paços de Ferreira, Humberto Brito, after having tested positive for covid-19.

According to a clarification from the Attorney General’s Office sent to Lusa, “the existence of an investigation is confirmed, in accordance with the terms of the DIAP of the Porto Este district”, with no defendants yet constituted.

On July 14, firefighters from the Paços de Ferreira corporation had informed the GNR that the mayor “disrespected the 14-day prophylactic isolation he was obliged to” after declaring on July 8 that he had tested positive for covid -19.

The mayor, on the other hand, refused the alleged violation of the duty of confinement, since on July 12 he was in possession of a set of tests, with a negative result for covid-19, and accused the firefighters of trying to “denigrate personnel and politically”.

The mayor understands that “there was no disregard for the confinement rules that are imposed on anyone who tests positive”.

“In my case, the data proves that I probably never had contact with covid-19. I can say that after a set of tests that I carried out, they were all negative,” he added.

“I am more sorry that the attitude of the firefighters occurred on the day that they knew that my father had a myocardial infarction and was admitted urgently to the Cardiology Intensive Care Unit of the Padre Américo Hospital, with a reserved prognosis, disregarding all humanitarian sense,” he added. .
