AT Mourenx (Pyrenees-Atlantiques), it is in the building of Novasep that the treatment against Covid-19 will be manufactured. The company specializes in the manufacture of active ingredients for drugs, tailor-made technology that has won over the American company. A decision which the inhabitants of Mourenx are quite proud. “This is great news for the complex and the Bassin du Lacq, which was once the flagship of the industry”, says a resident.
Forty jobs will be created initially, and others will follow. The mayor (PS) of the commune, Patrice Laurent, is particularly satisfied, because this industrial area has lost many jobs. Young people in the region will benefit from these job creations, because the town has a vocational and technological high school specializing in chemistry. “It’s extraordinary for them”, rejoices Laurence cersuela, principal of the Pierre and Marie Curie high school in Mourenx. The production of the treatment against Covid-19 will begin in the third quarter of 2022.
