Pfizer expects return to normal life in 1 year due to covid vaccine

The CEO of the pharmaceutical company Pfizer, Albert Bourla, predicted that in “one year” “normal life” will return after the covid-19 pandemic, although it considered probable that it is necessary to be vaccinated “annually” against the disease.

This was indicated by Bourla, whose pharmaceutical company has developed together with BioNTech one of the vaccines that have shown efficacy against the virus. “In a year, I think we will be able to return to normal life”, he assured in an interview on the ABC television network.

Bourla said that this does not mean that there are no new variants, but that the vaccines will allow to control the spread of the virus.

Get vaccinated every year

In his opinion, the “most likely” scenario, given that the virus is “spread throughout the world”, is that there are these new variants and, therefore, people will have to return to “vaccinate annually”.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention gave the green light to the third dose of the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine for those 65 and older and people at risk.

As a result, this third dose could be available to these groups, numbering millions of Americans, in the coming days.

Currently, 64.6 percent of the US population over 12 years of age is vaccinated with the double pattern, although the rate of inoculation has slowed in recent months, which has raised concern among health authorities.

The government of the president, Joe Biden, had advocated that the third dose of Pfizer be administered to the entire population over 16 years of age, something that the health authorities rejected due to lack of more data.

The Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine is the only vaccine that has been fully approved for use by US regulators, since the other two available, the double dose of Modern and the single dose of Johnson & Johnson, have emergency authorization.
