Petr Cech will leave the Chelsea job as the exodus continues under new owner Todd Boehly after the departures of Marina Granovskaia and Bruce Buck
Petr Cech will step down as Chelsea performance and technical director as the reorganization of Stamford Bridge continues under new owner Todd Boehly.
The blues legend spent ten years playing for the west London club, then returned after a short stint with Arsenal, before retiring and taking a backstage role at Stamford Bridge.
The former goalkeeper was appointed Chelsea manager in 2019.
He was in charge of overseeing all football and performance matters at the club, while also strengthening the links between the academy and the first team.
But now he is leaving after three years on the job, and Cech confirmed his departure in late June.
It makes blues hero Cech the third victim of the club’s new regime, following the departures of Marina Granovskaia and Bruce Buck, who also stepped down after Boehly took control of the club from Roman Abramovich.
It is understood that Boehly was keen for Cech to remain and be part of the new setup in West London.
However, it was not to be, and the former goalkeeper told the American that he felt the time was right to leave.
