Prime Minister Kiril Petkov expects at least three high-ranking GERB deputies to support lifting the veto on Northern Macedonia’s talks with the EU.
In front of his party members in “We continue the change” and European representatives, the Prime Minister claimed that he had the support of GERB Deputy Heads Tomislav Donchev and Daniel Mitov, as well as former Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva.
However, GERB denied to “24 Chasa” that talks were held with Kiril Petkov or representatives of “We continue the change” for Northern Macedonia. “This is a lie and nothing that Kiril Petkov offers will receive support from us,” the party’s press center told 24 Chasa.
As “24 Chasa” wrote, the prime minister’s plans this week are to ask for a discussion in parliament, which will allow him to lift the veto against EU guarantees that Bulgarian conditions become part of the negotiations for the accession of Northern Macedonia. “There are such people” announced that they would like a closed session of the parliament on Wednesday, at which the resigned Foreign Minister Teodora Genchovska to read the memoranda from meetings of Kiril Petkov. According to ITN, it would be clear from them that the prime minister was betraying national interests. “Isn’t there a European Commissioner there who tells how Petkov betrays our interests,” ITN Deputy Chief Toshko Yordanov asked on Monday.
