PES 2021 will only be an updated variant of the football series’ previous games

This year’s feature in the football game series eFootball Pro Evolution Soccer, also known as PES, will be a somewhat toned down affair compared to what fans are used to. In a message on their website Konami explains that PES 2021 will actually only be a “seasonal update” to its predecessor – PES 2020.

Players can mainly expect updated team line-ups, as well as various minor improvements from last year’s games – all at a lower price than usual. The developer still believes that PES 2021 will deliver excitement and fun that will last until the launch of the series’ next game.

The background for the reduced PES 2021 is that Konami is investing everything in the development of the series’ debut on next-generation consoles – which will not come this year.

With a transition to Unreal Engine, PES 2022 will offer better animations and player models, photorealistic graphics and better physics. The team also promises upgrades for both myClub and Master League, but has not yet shared anything about what it is about.

As part of the announcement, Konami shared a short teaser video, which you can watch above. The developer also said that PES 2022 is scheduled to begin testing midway through 2021. Thereafter, the plan is to release the game later that year.

The father of the Konami Code is dead.
