Pertamina boss confide in being uncomfortable attacked by fuel prices not falling

Jakarta

Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Nicke Widyawati said that he was uncomfortable because he was ‘attacked’ by the problem of fuel prices that did not go down. He conveyed this during a meeting with Commission VII of the DPR.

“Sir, it’s not comfortable, sir, everyone was attacked by everyone why the fuel didn’t go down, frankly, mom, there was a question about the time when producing fuel itself was more expensive than buying, in fact, ma’am,” Nicke said at the House of Representatives Commission VII, Jakarta, Monday (29 / 6/2020).

He said, the price of imported fuel some time ago was cheaper than crude oil imports. In fact, crude oil imports must also have additional costs for production.

“Imported fuel prices can be cheaper than crude imports, even though we have to have production costs. The fact is that. Yesterday, now it has started to be normal,” he said.

According to him, Pertamina could only profit by trading. But that was not done because Pertamina was a BUMN.

“If there had been a spread before, this was boro-boro, a negative spread. So actually for Pertamina closing the refinery, closing the well just bought so the trading company is more profitable. But we are SOEs,” he said.

According to him, closing the refinery to a well will have a big impact.

“If we close it, it is like a collapsed building, the derivative industry will also die, 80 thousand workers will be directly employed, if not directly 800 thousand, even million.
