Pertalite filling motor and electric motor, which one is the cheapest for one year used?

Jakarta

The rise of fuel oil (BBM) means that owners of internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles have to spend more on mobility. Electric motors are expected to be a solution to reduce dependence on fuel. How much does an electric motor save?

The general secretary of the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI), Hari Budianto, made a general calculation of the comparison between gasoline motorcycles and electric motorcycles. He personally stated that he had started using electric motors.

“I have the calculations, if there is a motorcycle for 16 million Rp. An electric motorcycle is one day (out of stock) for fuel replacement. How much for a motorcycle per day?? If you work a 5 day week, it means 100 thousand. It is only a week, if there are 52 weeks in a year, it means that there are Rp 5.2 million of fuel that is purchased per year for gasoline engines, “Hari said during a virtual discussion. Thursday (16/9/2022).

He continued that generally the use of electric motors in operations could be cheaper. There is a difference in Rp. 4 million if you switch from a gasoline engine to an electric one in one year of use as a fuel replacement.

“For an electric motor, the distance is 60 kilometers. If we calculate the power, it is 1.2 kWH. If we only pay Rp. 1,400 for electricity, it can take from 1 kWh to 50 kilometers. Let’s say we use 100 km, so 2 kWH, Rp. 2,800, multiplied by five (working days) easily means Rp. 3,000 by five, which means Rp. 15 thousand is a week, for 52 weeks it is only Rp. 780 thousand in a year, replacing gasoline that was Rp. 5.2 million, “he explained.

The problem, however, is that the price of electric motors is still considered too high compared to ICE motors. Not to mention when the battery is low, you need to replace the unit with a price tag of millions of rupees.

“The price of electric motors is still high, so the battery component costs 40 percent of the price of the vehicle itself. This battery determines how heavy it is to be expensive because the battery price is around USD 300 per KwH,” said Hari. .

“My 1.2 kWh (electric motorcycle) when converted to USD 300 is still around Rp 6-7 million. The distance is 50-60 kilometers,” he explained.

In addition, doubts remain about electric motors regarding infrastructure guarantees. Because not infrequently motorcycles are also used over long distances even between cities beyond the battery capacity.

“Our behavior, if you want to go to Bandung at that speed, you don’t have to stop anywhere, it turns out that fuel is even cheaper. Market adaptation still takes time, waiting for cheap batteries or waiting for replaceable batteries which can be rented doesn’t count for motorbikes, for example, “he said.

“The replacement battery infrastructure has arrived. If I want to go to Bandung, it runs out all the way to Karawang. There is a replaceable battery there, which is the brand I have. If it’s not there, I want to charge it for 5 hours. you still have doubts about the battery, how much does it cost, if it is not damaged, and if it is damaged? ” Hari said.
