According to the South Tegal Police Chief, Komol Joeharno, the host had actually applied for permission to hold a wedding party since September 1, 2020.

Initially, the host applied for permission to hold a simple dangdut show with a small stage to entertain guests. In addition, the host also agreed to implement health protocols during the party.

“Pak Wasmad Edi Susilo, who in fact is the Deputy Chairperson of the Tegal City DPRD, applied for permission on September 1 to organize the marriage and circumcision of his son,” said Joeharno when contacted by telephone, Thursday (9/24/2020).

It turned out that on the day of the event, the host held a magnificent concert with a large stage. Knowing this, the local police immediately revoked the permit in the hope that the host would not continue the event.

But in reality, dangdut concerts were still held until evening and were attended by thousands of people.

“So initially I proposed not to hold a grand concert, but for guest entertainment. It turns out that on the day of the event, or in the afternoon, there is entertainment with a large stage. So I revoked my permission that day so it wouldn’t be continued at night,” said Joeharno.

He said the host continued the event until evening by reasoning that he had already prepared the event.

In addition, the host stated that he would not involve the TNI Polri and would bear the risks himself.

“Because this activity has been prepared, he (the host) stated that he would not involve the TNI and Polri for security and would bear all the risks that occur himself,” said Joeharno.

Because he did not have a permit, Joeharno said that the concert was an illegal event.

“This means that it is an act against the law. Because the permit granted is not in accordance with the initial proposal until finally the permit is revoked. So there is no security for members that night,” he said.

Even though the permit was revoked, the police did not stop the concert on the grounds that there were limited police personnel at the police station.

“Do not have the courage to close it by force considering that we from the Police do not have significant strength. The second reason is not good, it feels like we went on stage to stop forcefully,” he said.

“We actually hoped there would be a policy or wisdom to cancel the concert. But apparently it was not carried out and even the activities continued,” he explained.
