Mobilizations escalate in the afternoon for substantive measures after the new industrial accident in Shipbuilding – New rally and march in the morning
It was also massive new gathering and protest march of workers in the Perama Shipyard Repair Zonewhere started on Wednesday morning from the ISAP station in Piraeus.
The demonstrations are in their second day, as unions and citizens react to the working conditions experienced by hundreds of workers. It is noted that on Monday another fatal work accident took place, which claimed the life of a 47-year-old man.
His wife sent a dramatic message, in order that those responsible be shaken, that there be no more wages of terror, that no other family suffer unjustlyas he pointed out.
On Wednesday there is a second “rendezvous” of mobilizations, this time in Korai Square in Piraeus, where the Piraeus Labor Center is calling for a Pampiraian rally.
“We will not tolerate any more deaths for the sake of the employer’s profits … We respond to the labor frenzy that is being prepared for us with rallying and struggle. We will not allow our workplaces to continue to become vast “valleys of Tempe”” as emphasized.
For the second day, the shipyard workers continue their strike mobilizations, demanding effective measures to protect their health, physical integrity, and their lives, on the occasion of the accident that claimed the life of a worker in the Perama Zone and led to the injury of two more colleagues of, last Monday, during work on a ship.
After the mass gathering at the Piraeus power station, they are currently marching through the streets of the city, denouncing the prescribed crime: “It is not a misfortune, nor a bad moment, it is profit over life”, stress the strikers of the Metal Union Attica and the Shipbuilding Industry of Greece and the Union of Shipwrights.
The Labor Center of Piraeus is calling for a Pampiraian rally, on the occasion of the labor accident, at 7 p.m. in Korai square.
