People pushed out of window: activists publish new evidence of torture of prisoners in Russia – Abroad – News

Gulagu.net reports torture of prisoners in a colony in the Krasnoyarsk region.

One video shows Russian FSIN staff first giving instructions to inmates in a quarantine unit.

Another prisoner is then brought into the room, who is beaten by people already in the room.

Vladimir Osechkin, the founder of Gulagu.net, emphasizes that prison staff are forcing prisoners themselves to be involved in the torture of prisoners.

In turn, the second video released by the activists shows the prisoner being pushed out the window.

The incident occurred on July 27, 2020, but two days later the person pushed out of the window died.

In early October, Gulagu.net received the first video archive revealing widespread torture and humiliation of prisoners in Russian prisons.

The videos were handed over to Gulagu.net by programmer Sergei Savelyev, who left Russia after the incident and sought asylum in France. Saveyev was declared wanted by the Russian authorities.

In December, Osechkin announced that another video archive with evidence of torture of prisoners had been made available to activists.

The Gulagu.net project specializes in the protection of the human rights of prisoners and collects material on illegal activities in Russian prisons.

In the summer of this year, Gulagu.net announced that the project would cease operations in Russia and remove all employees from the country for concern for their safety. However, the authors of the project emphasized that Gulagu.net will continue to operate.
