Hundreds of thousands of 75 to 79-year-old Dutch people who still live on their own, have their turn to receive a corona vaccine. As of this Saturday, they will receive an invitation from the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), with which they can make an appointment with an injection.

This concerns approximately 812,000 people, who are vaccinated with Comirnaty from Pfizer and BioNTech. They can go to more than sixty vaccination sites in the country for the shot.

In recent weeks, the vaccination of people aged 80 and older who still live independently has already started. In that group, about 400,000 people have been vaccinated so far. Several hundred of them have also received a second shot, which should protect them against the corona virus at least for the time being. When it comes to vaccination, the government works from old to young, after which it is the turn of the 70 to 74 year olds.

In addition, about 200,000 people have been vaccinated in long-term care, of whom about 100,000 have also had a repeat injection. This not only concerns the elderly in nursing homes, but also residents of institutions in the care of the disabled and mental health care.
