“People may not believe it, but we want to attack the top three”

FC Utrecht opens the attack on the traditional top three. Club owner Frans van Seumeren, trainer John van den Brom and technical director Jordy Zuidam made this clear on Wednesday afternoon in Stadium Galgenwaard, where the club’s fiftieth anniversary was celebrated.

Van den Brom fully supports the objective. “I’m glad it is being pronounced,” he is quoted as saying Algemeen Dagblad. “As a big club, I think you should have that ambition. We have talked about it and will do everything we can. We have scouted in a different category and now have boys who believe in this plan.”

It is the mission of Van Seumeren, who has pumped several millions into the club in recent years, to overcome skepticism and to close the gap with Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord. “It may not be believed, but we want to attack the top three.”

“In 2013 we made a plan to structurally belong to the sub-top,” Zuidam added. “We’ve had high peaks and some downturns. We’ve laid the foundation, and now it’s time to raise the bar,” said the technical director. “It would also be crazy if we were satisfied now.”
