People from the outbreaks should not travel around the Czech Republic, says the government epidemiologist

In most regions, the number of new cases of covid-19 has been reduced to an absolute minimum, but the infection is still not released in several regions. Therefore, their inhabitants have to wait for the end of the obligatory veils and further loosening. Now for them, the complete opposite is happening.

From Tuesday, the rules in the Karviná and Frýdek-Místek regions will be tightened. Visits to hospitals and social facilities will be prohibited, and mass events will have to be satisfied with a maximum of 100 visitors. The restriction also applies to swimming pools.

In addition, in the Moravian-Silesian Region, drapes inside buildings will remain mandatory at larger events and in some establishments. In the Karviná and Frýdek-Místek regions, public transport is available in all buildings. Cross-border workers across the region will then have to submit covid-19 tests to employers.

As for the current increase in the number of people infected with covid-19 – it is partly the result of extensive testing in the Karviná region, somewhere behind it is the ruthlessness of those infected, who even with symptoms walk among people.

“We usually find out about it from people around them. The person usually does not admit that he or she was in trouble – it is colleagues who say that they did not like the person and that they had symptoms, “said Rastislav Maďar, epidemiologist and head of the ministerial working group for the release of quarantine.

According to him, people’s behavior will continue to play a key role in the future. “In the end, there may be dozens of others from one person with symptoms. Not only does this cause a worsening of the situation, but also an overall deterioration of the Czech Republic’s foreign rating, “he added.

Traffic light changes

So far, according to him, there are no signals that the neighboring states want to close their borders to the Czechs due to the increase in the number of infected people in the Czech Republic, but they perceive the data. These include, for example, Slovakia – the Czech outbreak is close to the border, and the situation with our neighbors is much better than in our country.

“Our two hundred to three hundred cases a day is a big exclamation point for them. But we believe that when it is tested in the Karviná region, the incidence in our country will decrease relatively quickly. In the meantime, it is important that people from outbreaks do not travel much around the Czech Republic – especially if they have symptoms of the disease – and that they do not participate in mass events – including those that they consider safe, such as corporate, “he adds.

Regarding the traffic lights of safe and risky countries for trips abroad, Czech data are the default value for the color scale. According to him, if some countries are now changing from yellow to green and therefore safe, it may be partly related to the increasing number of infected people in the Czech Republic.

“If the incidence of the disease decreases after the end of area testing in the Karviná region – which we expect – it is possible that some countries whose color has improved on the map will deteriorate again. Because the reference value of the Czech Republic will improve, “the expert explained.

As for the possible restriction of travel from the risky Karviná, it is not yet in place, according to the Hungarian. The vast majority of covid-19 cases in the area are still limited to miners and their close contacts, so there is no penetration of the infection into the wider society. At the same time, hospitals have large capacities. In addition, restricting travel from the affected region would unreasonably complicate people, for example, commuting to work.

Veils and hearths

– In the Moravian-Silesian Region, even after 1 July 2020, the obligation to wear veils inside buildings at mass events – including cinemas or theaters – will continue to apply with the participation of more than 100 people and in establishments where there is a greater risk of disease transmission, except restaurants . At a press conference, representatives of the ministry mentioned, for example, hairdressing.

– In the Karviná and Frýdek-Místek regions, veils will be mandatory not only for internal public events, as stated by the ministry earlier, but in all indoor areas of buildings outside the residence and also in public transport.

Veils in the subway

However, the current development around the wearing of veils will also be reflected in further development. The working group under the Hungarian leadership finally decided that people in most of the republic would be able to postpone them from July 1. in Prague, however, he still has to take them to the subway or when visiting a hospital.

“We will monitor it and evaluate the situation within 14 days at the latest. Currently, there has been a growing concern that the mandatory wearing of veils in non-air-conditioned public transport would cause more at-risk populations – such as cardiac, asthmatics and the like – to be unable to breathe than the risk of infection in the current epidemiological situation. situation, “added the epidemiologist.

From 1 July, the Ministry of Health will also publish a daily map of risk regions in the Czech Republic. It evaluates the increase in positives with covid-19, hospitalization and other trends for the last day and week. So far, the worst situation is in the districts of Karviná, Frýdek-Místek and Ostrava-město.
