People – Freiburg im Breisgau – actor Kiefer speaks Alemannic – society

Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – Actor Joscha Kiefer (38) has returned to his southern Baden homeland for the new ZDF series “Breisgau” and has no problem with the local dialect Alemannic. “Although I mostly speak High German, I can easily switch the dialect on and off,” said Kiefer, who comes from Müllheim (district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald), of the “Badische Zeitung” (Saturday). “But speaking Alemannic in front of the camera is a strange feeling. The dialect is so deeply rooted in me that it feels like I’m revealing something about myself.”

The ZDF broadcasts the first episode “Bullenstall” about the Freiburg homicide squad on Wednesday (8:15 pm). Kiefer plays Dennis Danzeisen, the district manager’s nephew. The family has a few crooked things going on, as the actor reveals.

The series offers “thriller with a wink,” said Kiefer. The focus is always on a case. “But the trappings should be fun. We don’t send the audience into a valley of darkness. We want to entertain the people.” The actor was also seen in the “Soko Munich” team at ZDF until it was hired.
