Pentagon confirms plane crash

Taliban Belongs to US forces, the Pentagon confirmed, saying it had no indication he was shot by enemy fire, while the Taliban say he was “shot tactically.”

“An American Bombardier E-11A crashed today in Ghazni province, Afghanistan,” tweeted U.S. Forces spokesman for Afghanistan, Colonel Sonny Leggett. The Bombardier E-11 is a reconnaissance drone support aircraft, equipped with high-value communications equipment.

No survivors

“An investigation is underway into the causes of the crash, but there is no indication that it was caused by enemy fire,” he added.

“A special aircraft of the American occupiers has crashed … in Ghazni province,” Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mudjahid said in a statement, adding that all members of the crew had died.

A surveillance mission?

According to the Taliban, the aircraft “flew on a surveillance mission.” The type of the device corresponds to those used in the country by the US Air Force for electronic surveillance.

The plane crash was reported by local authorities to be around 1:00 p.m. The Afghan Civil Aviation Authority (ACAA) later said in a statement that “no commercial aircraft crashes has been registered “.
