At the commemoration at Ground Zero in New York, Vice President Mike Pence gave a speech. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden were also present at the commemoration. Biden and Trump’s running mate Pence greeted each other with the elbow and exchanged a few words.

President Donald Trump himself appeared in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where he gave a speech. At the time, United Airlines Flight 93 crashed there after the crew members and passengers tried to overpower the hijackers. “America will not stop prosecuting terrorists who threaten our people,” he said.
On the way to Shanksville, Trump and his wife Melania on Air Force One held a minute’s silence as the first plane crashed into the World Trade Center. “God bless America,” said the president.
Hours after the president’s visit, Biden also arrived in Shanksville. He and his wife Jill placed a wreath on the memorial and spoke to relatives of some of the victims.
The fact that Shanksville was visited by both presidential candidates must be seen in the light that the election results in the state of Pennsylvania will soon be crucial. In 2016, Trump brought in the state. But neither Trump nor Biden used this day to campaign.
