Sergio Peña wants to take the step to the top of the Eredivisie. The midfielder of FC Emmen says that he has even had conversations with other Dutch clubs.
“I wouldn’t hesitate to go to one of the big clubs in the Netherlands,” said the Peruvian in conversation with Radio Capital. “I love Emmen, the team and the city, but I am a professional and I want to develop myself. I have to go to a team that competes for the titles. That is my goal.”
Peña has recently acquired Spanish nationality, making him a cheaper option for clubs and moreover making transfers within Europe easier. His focus seems to be on the Netherlands for the time being. “Since I am doing well here, there have been discussions with almost all important teams here. I am waiting. I have a two-year contract with Emmen and I am calm.”
The 24-year-old Peña came over from the Portuguese Tondela in 2019 and played 23 games for FC Emmen in his first season.
