Soon classified, Café Babel is much more than the gateway to the village of Bardonnex. From the city, it is reached by pedaling along fields of sunflowers and vineyards, through hamlets and new constructions.

It is perhaps the oldest of Geneva’s bistros. It has been welcoming visitors for more than a century at the entrance to Bardonnex. Like an oasis so coveted at the end of a hard day’s work in the fields – or simply a bike ride on the borders of the countryside. The Café Babel has been so named since its foundation by Gustave-Jules Babel in 1906. “He was a peasant from the region, who decided to open his restaurant as was often done at the time. Her son and grandchildren and their children still live in the house opposite, “says Julien Bernard, who took over this bistro a few years ago where, when he was young, he came to celebrate birthdays and family diplomas.
