Member of Commission I DPR RI from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle Faction (PDIP) Effendi Simbolon mentions General Andika Perkasa will become Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) replaces Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto.
He also mentioned that Lieutenant General (Lt. Gen.) Dudung Abdurachman will serve as Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) in the near future.
“God willing, everything will happen in the near future, General Dudung Abdurachman becomes the Army Chief of Staff and General Andika Perkasa becomes the TNI Commander,” Effendi said via short message to CNNIndonesia.com, Friday (3/9).
However, Effendi did not explain further when the process of changing the leadership of the TNI and the Army. He also did not say whether the presidential letter (surpres) regarding the names of the candidates for the TNI Commander in Chief had been sent to the DPR to take part in the fit and proper test at Commission I of the DPR.
Effendy also did not explain whether this change process coincided with the reshuffle which was widely reported to occur after the National Mandate Party (PAN) moved closer to a coalition of political parties supporting the government.
It is known that the TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto will enter retirement in November 2021. Hadi has served as the TNI Commander since December 2017.

Besides Andika, the name of the Chief of Naval Staff (KSAL) Admiral Yudo Margono also strengthened to replace Hadi’s position. If you refer to the dimensions, currently it is the Navy that gets the turn to hold the TNI command stick. But all decisions remain in the hands of Jokowi, always the president.
However, the views of former Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto are different. According to him, the candidate for TNI Commander in Chief to replace Hadi must have chemistry or closeness with Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto.
This is related to the modernization of the main weapon system (defense equipment) in the midst of economic difficulties that will certainly be faced in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Must see chemistry between the three chiefs of staff and the Minister of Defense. So that we can jointly oversee the modernization of defense in the future,” Andi said in a discussion held by HMI online, Wednesday (7/7).
