PC players complain about price increases Horizon Zero Dawn due to VPN usage – Gaming – News

I think this is really BS: you think you can do something unethical, because you think that the other party is also doing unethical things …. What you do not want you to shoot, do another now …. In addition: that of those “rootkits” and all the other “arguments” you give are certainly debatable: whether it’s been a long time (and therefore not really relevant anymore, like with the rootkit) or Sony had pretty good reasons for doing it . If you buy games cheaply via VPN, you will take advantage of the adjusted price in other countries. Prices are lower there for a reason: “the lower standard of living”. Unfortunately, if people continue to take advantage of this on these and other games, Steam will not be able to continue adjusting prices for the poorer countries or countries where the economy is sub-optimal. So actions like yours can have major consequences, making buying the games for people in some countries really way too expensive ….

People don’t realize that porting a game from the PS4 to the PC is likely to cost quite a bit of money to do well. Although I must honestly say that I think the 50 euros is a bit much. Just wait for a sale instead of breaking the rules of Steam …. I really hope that Steam will tackle this kind of practice; just delete the games from the account of the people who buy the game via VPN and just give them back the amount. And that if people do it more often after warning that the money will be withheld.

Like @er0mess said, with this crooked reasoning you punish not only Sony, but especially Guerilla games. These have ported the game themselves. So your reasons for Sony don’t even really matter, maybe only 50% ….

@jaaoie17 Do you know how much time it takes to make a console game work properly with mouse and keyboard? It really takes a lot of time to get it right. They have also implemented some visual improvements, configurable controls, benchmarking etc. It seems that they have invested a lot of time and money to get it right. To just label it as “simple port” seems to me to be incorrect … Besides that, even if it is a simple brackish port, it is still not good, ethical and fair to go against the Steam rules get it cheaper. Again; do not complain about a company that would do something bad to change your bad behavior ….

@Pinkys Brain Lol, you can see all countries as one whole … but it simply isn’t; the economy in certain countries is simply different. And for the people there, it is very reasonable that Steam adjust the prices for them. Too bad people like you specifically take advantage of this just because you want to save some money against the rules. And you do this over the back of the developers and the people in those countries where the game is cheaper, because then Steam will be forced to (partially) undo those lower prices ….

@icecreamfarmer No, you are really taking advantage of the situation here because you are going against the rules and good intentions of Steam …

It is perfectly normal for large companies to engage in arbitration.

Yes, nice, but again: you can’t justify your own bad behavior with someone else’s potentially bad behavior. What has Gorilla Games done to you, for example?
