Baník Ostrava Parts Ways‍ with Head Coach Pavel Hapal

Ostrava, Czech Republic – FC Baník Ostrava announced today the‍ mutual termination of its agreement with head coach Pavel Hapal, effective immediately. The decision comes amid a challenging start to the season for the club.

The move, finalized after intensive discussions following the teamS match in Zlín, aims to inject new energy into‍ Baník’s campaign. “We dealt with the situation really intensively since the match in Zlín. We‍ did not ⁢want to take the ⁣hasty step of AIS Pavel; we discussed it from ‌all sides. After a‌ few days of negotiations, we concluded that it would be better⁢ to break up our journeys and‌ give the team a new impulse,” stated Luděk Mikloško, head of Baník’s sports section.

Hapal took the helm at Baník in October 2022, succeeding Pavel Vrba. During‍ his tenure, he guided the team to fourth and then third-place finishes in the league, culminating in a return to European competition⁢ after a ⁢14-year absence. However, the current season has seen the team struggle,⁤ currently holding 10 points after 11 rounds and sitting in‌ 11th place. The club experienced meaningful player turnover during the summer transfer window.

Reports from Deník and Infotbal.cz indicate that Hapal is in negotiations to‍ become the new sports manager at ‌Sigma Olomouc, replacing Ladislav Minář.

Baník Ostrava is actively seeking a replacement⁢ for Hapal, with josef Dvorník, recently linked‌ to a potential move to Košice, emerging ⁤as a candidate. Dvorník currently serves as ‌a reserve team coach.
