Patrick Peter stays with the Vienna Capitals

The Vienna Capitals continue to rely on Patrick Peter. The 26-year-old defender and 61-time national player suffered a cruciate ligament rupture last November and is currently looking forward to his comeback.

“I’ve been back on the ice for two weeks now, I move without any problems and most importantly: I’m absolutely pain-free,” says the Viennese, who with 395 league games for the caps behind Philippe Lakos (794), Rafael Rotter (564) and Mario Fischer (483) is the player with the fourth most appearances in the club.

Peter is the sixth defender in the Capitals roster for the new season. To date, the club has a total of 19 players under contract, including 16 Austrians and 13 Viennese.

Schofield to Salzburg

Salzburg, meanwhile, are pleased with striker Rick Schofield, who last played in Linz for four years, about the first new signing for the coming season. The 33-year-old Canadian has been one of the most successful strikers in the league at Black Wings Linz for the past four years and had previously also made a strong calling card in two seasons in Bolzano and one in Villach.

Last season he was the fourth-best scorer in the league with 28 goals and 29 assists in 49 games in the regular season of the former Erste Bank Eishockey Liga.
