KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. Patients exposed to the E484K corona virus mutation in Indonesia have recovered. This was revealed by the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health for Covid-19 Vaccination, Siti Nadia Tarmizi.
It is known that the virus mutation case was found in Jakarta. Nadia said one case was detected after an examination by the Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology in February 2021.
“The specimens were (examined) in February by the Eijkman Institute, and they have recovered from February,” said Nadia, when contacted by Kompas.com, Monday (5/4/2021).
Nadia said the Ministry of Health was still taking anticipatory steps even though the E484K corona virus mutation case was discovered in February 2021.
“We are still checking it because the case is already in February,” said Nadia.
The E484K virus is a mutation of the B.1.1.7 corona virus and is thought to affect the efficacy of the Covid-19 vaccine.
“If B.1.1.7 there could be 10-17 mutations, one of which is E484K, from the suspicion it could affect the efficacy of the vaccine. But from a study in South Africa all vaccines are still effective until now,” said the Director of Direct Communicable Disease Prevention and Control. Directorate General of P2P Ministry of Health (Kemenkes).
