Pasta water salt from Promikoch causes ridicule – News Panorama: Miscellaneous

Everyone can cook pasta. As a rule of thumb: 1 level teaspoon of salt in 1 liter of water and 100 g of pasta. For the 70-year-old restaurateur, entrepreneur and TV chef Alfons Schuhbeck, it can also be a little more – or more extravagant. The Urbayer, who runs several restaurants in Munich, has added his own creation to his already extensive range of spices, which ensures no less extensive ridicule on the net: the pasta water seasoning salt.

In his own online shop, Schuhbeck charges 4.90 euros for a 500 gram pack for the (currently not available) seasoned salt for pasta – shipping costs exclusive. For comparison: 500 grams of iodized table salt does not even cost 1 franc at the Swiss discounter.

“What is pasta salt?”

Schuhbeck has developed more than 200 spice blends – including a sex spice. However, there is disagreement on the social networks about price, benefits or the concept of schuhbeck’s pasta salt. Twitterin Simone posted a photo showing several packs of the spice mix on a shelf.

Other users scoffed: “A deserved place 2 behind peeled potatoes in a glass.” Or: “You could just as well sell air.” Some people apparently even thought the packaging was pasta water in a bag – and not the spice mix.

Pasta salt supporters point out that the list of ingredients should be observed. The idea behind it is not wrong, but the price is too high. In fact, Schuhbeck’s salt still contains turmeric, garlic, ginger, fennel and cardamom.

The main thing is perfectly cooked

It is not surprising that nobody is as much pasta as the Italians – 25 kilos per person per year. In Switzerland it is a good 9 kilos (as of 2018).
