Pas-de-Calais. Worker dies in limestone quarry

A worker in his sixties died this Monday June 29 in the morning after the explosion of a tire of a construction machine of the Boulonnais quarries at Ferques (Pas-de-Calais), which extract limestone aggregates for the BTP, we learned from concordant sources.

The victim was in cardio-respiratory arrest when the firefighters arrived, alerted at around 7:10 a.m., who could not save him despite the care provided.

According to the gendarmes, the tire of a construction machine, 10 meters long, used for excavation, exploded and fatally reached the victim.

An investigation opened by the gendarmes

The employee was carrying out a standard maintenance operation on an installation support tire. A violent and brutal loss of pressure due to an as yet unknown reason projected the employee, explained in a press release the company, which has set up a psychological unit to support colleagues.

The Boulonnais quarries belong to the CB group, which produces materials for industry (steel, lime, sugar, glass, animal feed, etc.), construction (ready-mixed concrete, prefabrication) and public works. .
