Partying Antwerp resident on European list “Most Wanted” | Antwerp

AntwerpThe European police organization Europol has launched its new campaign “Most Wanted”. Every year since 2016, Europol compiles its own “Most Wanted” list of the most wanted criminals of the affiliated police forces. This year’s list includes two Belgian drug criminals: Antwerp resident Tom Michielsen and Limburger Flor Bressers.

Europe’s Most Wanted is an initiative of the ENFAST community, consisting of specialized police units that track down fugitive criminals. At the Belgian federal police, the FAST unit deals with this. Cooperation between European Member States is crucial in fighting this type of cross-border crime, as some fugitives escape from country to country and repeatedly evade law enforcement authorities.

On Europol’s list this year is Tom Michielsen (°22 Dec 1975). He has yet to serve a 4.5-year prison term for international drug smuggling. His description was still this year by the Dutch police. He is also mentioned in the Dutch Taxus investigation into drug criminal Piet S. He was arrested in The Hague at the beginning of this year. Michielsen worked closely with Piet S.

According to Europol, it is possible that Michielsen is staying in Spain. The photo that Europol attaches of a cheerful Michielsen could indeed have been taken in Spain.

The second Belgian on the list is the Limburg drug criminal Flower Bressers. He was also convicted in Belgium of drug importation and the kidnapping of a business partner. Bressers also plays a prominent role in the Bruges drug investigation into the Kriva Rochem company.

110 arrests

Europol’s Deputy Executive Director for Operations, Jean-Philippe Lecouffe, said at the launch of the campaign: “The core of this campaign is justice for the victims. By the EU Most Wanted-website and view the fugitives can help you arrest and bring a long-term criminal to justice. So far, 110 fugitives have been arrested; Europol and national law enforcement agencies need your help to protect European citizens.”
