Parties – Dresden – the left demand a protective shield against inflation – politics

Dresden (dpa / sn) – The left in the Saxon state parliament are demanding a protective shield for consumers in view of the high inflation. The government must stand up to the federal government for this, demanded party leader and Left Party member of parliament Susanne Schaper on Monday in Dresden. At the same time, she presented a ten-point plan by the left-wing faction for more justice. Among other things, a nationwide price cap for natural gas, which is used to produce electricity, is necessary. Spain and Portugal have already introduced such regulations. VAT on basic foodstuffs is to be abolished. A nationwide action plan is also required to ensure the supply of energy, heating, combustibles and fuels at affordable prices.

“We want to put up a protective shield over the many people who are suffering massively from inflation and give them some justice, for example with a cap on gas and fuel prices. The current relief is far from sufficient,” explained Schaper. Meanwhile, corporations would continue to rake in large profits from the war. Many large companies have increased their prices, and there is no end in sight. “We urgently need to take countermeasures by having the state regulate prices, skim off war profits and redistribute some of our wealth.”
