Water
According to a spokesperson for the fire service, a malfunction occurred in the sprinkler system during work, which caused the water to flow. That water ended up on the ceiling, but because of the weight, ceiling plates collapsed over a length of 150 meters.
‘Damage is enormous’
The havoc is enormous. Parts of the floor are covered with plates and part of Makado has been flooded. Since Sunday, non-essential shops have been closed from 5 p.m. That means it was quiet in the mall. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but the damage is enormous,” said the fire service spokesman.
Safety
Several fire units have come to the mall to provide assistance. Makado is closed. The owners of the shops cannot reach them until the signal is clear, an operator said on the phone.
For now, we are looking at how the debris can be cleaned up. That will last all night, according to the fire department spokesperson.
