Parler says he has warned the FBI more than fifty times about imminent violence | NOW

The controversial social network Parler says it warned the FBI more than 50 times about violent content on the platform in the weeks leading up to the storming of the Capitol in January. Parler writes this in a letter to Carolyn Maloney, the Democratic representative of the House of Representatives from the state of New York on Thursday.

Among other things, warnings would have been issued for specific threats to the American parliament building. The storming of the Capitol on January 6 killed five people and injured hundreds.

Maloney heads the committee that examines the website. She had asked Parler on February 8 to come up with a response to the investigation into the assault.

The conservative platform, widely used by supporters of then US President Donald Trump, is said to have kept the FBI informed about users inciting violence since December. The federal police department is said to have been informed about, among other things, a user who threatened to “start eliminating people” on January 6. Another user called for the gathering of “an armed force of more than 150,000 people”.

Parler has been under attack since the storm. In January, the platform disappeared because web host Amazon and other partners stopped cooperating. According to them, Parler did too little against calls for violence by users of the platform. The company came up last month back online with the help of a Russian technology company.
