Paris Saint-Germain is never quiet!
After the sensational start to the season, the French superstar ensemble is currently in a bit of a crisis. Two of the last three league games were lost, RC Lens suddenly moved up to three points in the table.
The good mood within the team is also gradually disappearing. The vice-captain’s position is to blame – and superstar Kylian Mbappé (23)!
The striker was captain in last Monday’s cup game against sixth division side Pays de Cassel (7-0) and scored a five-pack in the thrashing.

However, central defender Presnel Kimpembe (27) was surprised that he was wearing the bandage. The Frenchman is a true PSG veteran, has played for the club since 2005 and has been one of the vice-captains for years.
Mbappé had not yet been officially assigned this role. Even with his mega-extension last summer, none of the PSG bosses mentioned that the clipper would at least be vice-captain from now on.
However, after the cup game, coach Christophe Galtier (56) said: “It has been set like this since the beginning of the season. I had decided that Kylian should be vice-captain. He stayed at PSG and deserved the armband when Marquinhos isn’t there.”
For Kimpembe, words that amounted to a demotion. He hadn’t heard of it!

Taking to social media, he wrote: “In the last few hours I have had to hear and read a lot of things about myself. I would therefore like to clarify a few things so that false information about this matter does not spread: I have not been informed of the decision.”
As reported by “L’Equipe”, the binding incident had to be clarified in a personal conversation between Galtier and Kimpembe. It came out: Galtier had apparently simply expressed himself unhappily…
Mbappé was therefore not the sole vice-captain, but was simply included in the bandage rotation with Kimpembe, Sergio Ramos (36) and Marco Verratti (30). There should be no hierarchy among the representatives, Galtier usually decides according to the availability of the players.
Kimpembe can therefore continue to wear the captain’s armband of his youth club. At least if Galtier feels like it…
