Antoine de Caunes and Daphné Roulier Reveal Instant Connection, reflect on Family & Future
PARIS – Veteran French television personality Antoine de Caunes and novelist Daphné Roulier have opened up about their relationship, revealing a swift and powerful connection that blossomed into a family and a lasting partnership. In a recent interview, the couple detailed the organic nature of their romance, the joys of parenthood, and a candid look at their individual perspectives.
De Caunes, also father to Emma and Louis from previous relationships, noted the natural adjustment period that follows blending families. “of my first two children… finding your place harmoniously takes time,” he said.
The couple welcomed their son, Jules, four years after meeting, a decision Roulier described as emerging “naturally,” despite not being a pre-planned intention. Jules, however, maintains a notably private life, with Roulier stating he is “morbidly modest and therefore incredibly discreet.”
The interview also touched on De Caunes’ self-described past behavior. He expressed regret for acting as “an arrogant young bastard” during a period of self-revelation, admitting, “I may have lacked tact towards the people around me.”
Despite differing professional approaches – De Caunes described himself as “walking on water” while Roulier prefers “caving,” referencing his confidence versus her more cautious nature – they collaborate on the magazine “Vieux.”
Looking ahead,Roulier expressed a desire for a larger family, stating,”I would have loved to have a bunch of kids,” while acknowledging their son is “marvelous.” De Caunes offered a poignant sentiment about their future, declaring, “I don’t know if I will remain the man of her life until the end, but she, without hesitation, is the woman of my life.”
De Caunes’ documentary, “Antoine de Caunes. The “dream” life of a rock kid”, airs on Canal+ December 3 and 10 at 9 p.m.
