Parade in New York for rappers DMX

The rapper DMX was honored by fans with a parade through parts of New York and a funeral service broadcast on the Internet. His coffin was being driven through the streets on a monster truck.

Two weeks after the death of US rapper DMX, relatives, colleagues and fans paid tribute to the musician with a parade and a memorial service in New York. The ceremony in the Barclays Center event hall was broadcast live on the artist’s social media channels. A red coffin stood on the stage. Due to corona requirements, only a few musicians were allowed in the large arena besides family and friends. In one of his last major shows, DMX performed at the Barclays Center in June 2019.

A giant monster truck labeled “Long Live DMX” had previously driven the coffin from Yonkers, the rapper’s hometown, through the streets of New York to Brooklyn. Hundreds of motorcycles and cars followed the truck with loud DMX music, fans lined the streets.

After a heart attack and days of artificial respiration, the native Earl Simmons died on April 9 at the age of 50 in a clinic near New York.

Colleagues from the music and film scene, including rapper Missy Elliott, singer Nas, producer Timbaland and actresses Halle Berry and Viola Davis expressed their grief at the time. The rapper, who became known in the 1990s with hits like “Party Up”, “Ruff Riders’ Anthem” and “Get At Me Dog”, had also starred in a dozen films, including “Romeo Must Die” and “Exit Wounds “.
