Kottayam: Panchayat president arrested in fraud case. Niranam Panchayat President K.P. Kottayam East Police arrested Punnoos. The complaint is that lakhs of people were cheated by offering MBBS seats in private medical colleges.

Punnoos was arrested by the police on the complaint of a resident of Kottayam Puthupally. The complaint is that they are being cheated by offering a seat to MBBS in a private medical college and taking 25 lakh rupees. According to the complaint, the complainant handed over the money in three installments as requested by Punnoos on November 15 last. But MBBS did not get seat or refund. He then filed a complaint.

KP is a Trustee of Believers Church Hospital, a private medical college in Thiruvalla. Punnoos. With this status, money was bought and seat was promised. KP won as UDF candidate in the last panchayat election. Punnoos was later elected as the Panchayat President. It is reported that a case has been registered against him in some other police stations apart from Kottayam East Police Station.
