Panama registers 15 new deaths from covid-19 in a single day; Active cases already add up to 83,343

In Panama, 644,683 confirmed accumulated cases of covid-19 are registered, of which 7,164 are positive cases in the last 24 hours

Panama registered this Sunday 15 new deaths from covid-19, the highest number of deaths in one day, so far this year, for a cumulative of 7,598 deaths and a lethality of 1.2%.

The report of the Department of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) details that in Panama there are 644,683 confirmed accumulated cases of covid-19 and 7,164 new positive cases.

The number of recoveries amounted to 553,742 and 19,745 tests were applied for a positivity of 36.3%.

Meanwhile, active cases total 83,343, while 82,512 in home isolation, divided into 82,002 at home and 510 in hotels. Those hospitalized add up to 831, there are 747 people in the ward and 84 in the ICU.

Vaccination report

On the other hand, the Expanded Program on Immunization announced in its report that a total of 6,948,577 doses of vaccines against covid-19 have been applied in Panama. Of this total, 3,197,534 first doses have been placed; 2,849,644 second doses and 891,784 booster doses.

The EPI highlighted in its report that the figure of 51,000 pediatric doses applied was reached in the country, thanks to the updating of data emanating from all regions.

With a total of 890 applied doses, the pediatric vaccination day against covid-19, for children between 5 and 11 years old, culminated in circuit 8-6 San Miguelito.

Parents went with their children to the vaccination posts at Los Andes Mall from 7am to 3pm and at Metro Mall from 9am to 5pm.
