Lahore, Pakistan – The Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing, in collaboration with its Consulates General in Shanghai, Chengdu, adn Guangzhou, played a pivotal role in the record-breaking participation of 200 Chinese companies at the 4th Health, engineering, and Minerals Show (HEMS).The event, held in Lahore from April 17-19, 2025, witnessed a 100% increase in Chinese participation compared to the previous year.

Deepening Economic Ties

Ambassador of Pakistan to China,Khalil Hashmi,led a high-profile delegation,underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening economic,trade,and investment cooperation with China at both Business-to-Business (B2B) and Company-to-Company (C2C) levels.More than 150 Chinese companies engaged in B2B meetings across various sectors, including healthcare, engineering, minerals, and mining.

These interactions culminated in the signing of 37 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), Letters of Intent (LOIs), and contracts valued at over $435 million.

Key Agreements and Expanding Interests

• Quartz Stone Export Deal: A $60 million agreement, including a $10 million investment component.
• Mineral Resource Investment: A Chinese company expressed interest in investing $50 million to develop mineral resources.
• Medical Device Manufacturing: A $45 million joint venture.
• Electric Vehicle Technology Transfer: An $80 million contract.

Chinese interest also extended to sectors such as salt,copper,fluorite,gemstones,IT,real estate,and the branding of Pakistani products. The Embassy and Consulates are actively supporting the follow-up on these business leads.

Prime Minister’s Endorsement

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif hosted a dinner for over 800 delegates from 50 countries. The significant participation of the Chinese delegation, the largest foreign contingent, was widely recognized.

The Prime Minister commended the Ambassador and his team for facilitating the largest-ever Chinese business delegation to Pakistan.

Strategic Engagements and partnerships

On the sidelines of HEMS 2025, Ambassador Hashmi engaged with key stakeholders to further strengthen bilateral ties:

• Met with the Chinese Consul General in Lahore.
• Held discussions with senior officials of the Punjab Government, including the Chief Secretary and Additional Secretary of the Board of Investment (BOI).

At the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT), the ambassador led a roundtable with provincial officials from agriculture, industry, healthcare, and investment sectors, briefing them on the Embassy’s efforts to facilitate chinese investors and promote targeted B2B engagements.

The Embassy also partnered with Habib Rafiq (Pvt.) Ltd. to host a networking lunch, bringing together Chinese and Pakistani business leaders to explore opportunities in the minerals, construction, and auto sectors.
