Paco from Empanadas remembered why he rejected Elías Ayub’s offer

In 2016, a young vendor became very famous after his peculiar way of selling empanadas on the beaches of Acapulco, with a facility for words, went viral. This was Francisco Orihuela Ramírez, better known as “Paco el de las empanadas”.

He was so successful on social media that renowned businessman Arturo Elías Ayub offered to support him by giving him a scholarship to continue with his venture; however, what seemed like a dream come true and the opportunity of a lifetime did not materialize and the deal between the businessman and the now ex-Shark Tank Mexico “shark” did not go anywhere.

Initially, it was said that the young man would do better selling empanadas than what he would earn by associating with Carlos Slim’s son-in-law. After what happened, Paco el de las empanadas’ presence on social media faded away until he was practically forgotten.

After years of absence from the public eye, Paco reappeared creating content, although not with the same success as before. That is why both insiders and outsiders questioned the real reasons for declining the proposal of one of the most powerful men in Mexico.

It was at the end of 2023 when Paco clarified that since he was a minor at the time, the decision to associate with Elías Ayub did not fall on him, but on his mother’s husband, who did not allow it. But it was not until the beginning of this week in 2024 when Francisco opened his heart and spoke about how hard that stage of his life was, the abuse he suffered from his stepfather, who did not allow him to pursue his dreams, and how his mother did not defend him.

On the YouTube channel “Archie Comedy,” Paco explained how his stepfather abused him both verbally and physically; on one occasion he even hit him in front of his own mother, who only saw what happened and left the place.

“I arrived and there were 10 empanadas left, I knocked and knocked and they didn’t open the door. My stepfather opened the door and I was still asking for forgiveness for not having sold everything (…) The truth is that I offered to everyone, I went two, three, four times with the same people, but I didn’t manage to finish. That night with the strength of a 40-year-old bastard he punched me and I fell down,” she said through tears.

Paco also reiterated that it was his stepfather who prevented him from collaborating with the director of Grupo Telmex.
