During the meeting, the Minister also learned about the operation principle, potential and planned development projects of the Inčukalns underground gas storage facility, as well as discussed further cooperation between the defense industry and JSC Conexus Baltic Grid in the context of joint training. protection.
It has already been reported that on January 17, the transmission system of the Russian Federation is scheduled to start repairing the gas pipeline Valday – Pskov, during which PAS Gazprom will replace certain sections of the gas pipeline to improve the security of the transmission system.
The main natural gas transmission system included in the structure of JSC Conexus Baltic Grid is 1188 km long, directly connecting the Latvian natural gas market with Lithuania, Estonia and Russia.
The Inčukalns underground gas storage facility is one of the most modern natural gas storage facilities in Europe, as well as an important strategic object in the Baltic Sea region, ensuring the energy security and independence of the entire region. The capacity of active natural gas in the Inčukalns underground gas storage can reach up to 2.3 billion cubic meters, thus fully meeting the needs of Latvia and the region for fuel raw materials.
