Oxford coronavirus vaccine, adverse reaction in a volunteer: AstraZeneca suspends testing

The AstraZeneca pharmaceutical group announced a global suspension of clinical trials for its experimental vaccine against covid-19, given the appearance of complications in one program participant. The group, associated withOxford University, made it known that the protocol tripped in front of a potential adverse reaction and that the suspension was therefore autonomously decided to allow the appropriate checks by an independent commission.

A stop that comes about a week after the announcement of thedefinitive agreement of the company with the European Commission: agreement in which, as reiterated by the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza, it is written that the first doses, if the vaccine is confirmed as safe, will be already available by the end of 2020.

As regards the role of Italy, it was precisely the alliance with France, Germany and the Netherlands that made it possible to push the EU towards a strong acceleration compared to the possibility of have a vaccine as soon as possible.
