It’s half past four here.

It has become official that the 33-time champion, 24-time Hungarian Cup winner and UEL group winner men’s football team will continue his career in our U23 Ghana national team forward, Owusu Kwabena, whose name may sound familiar to our fans, since in August 2022, the Champions League in the third round of the qualifiers, he was effective in our away match against the Azeri champion Qarabag, creating a 1-1 final result.

Presentation:

The 25-year-old, 182-centimeter-tall forward was born on June 18, 1997 in Accra, Ghana. He started his professional career in his hometown in 2016, then went on loan to the Spanish club Toledo, and later was signed by Leganés, who were in the Spanish top flight at the time. However, he could not find a foothold here, his team constantly loaned him to smaller teams, such as Real Oviedo, Cartagena, Salamanca and Córdoba. He played eight times for Real Oviedo in the second division, and five times in the King’s Cup for Toledo and Córdoba. Moreover, he scored two goals for the former team against Conquense in the 2016-2017 edition of the cup series.

Owusu had the Iberian Peninsula as his home until 2020, when Leganés loaned his football to the Azeri top team, the nine-time champion Qarabag, where he had one assist in five games in his first half season. In his next, full season in Azerbaijan, the goal production already started: he scored nine times in 39 matches, and he also had two assists (he also scored once in the UEFA Europa League 2020/2021 season against the eventual winner Villarreal). For the next season, Qarabag loaned the Ghanaian forward to Ankaragücü, who excelled in Turkey: he scored 10 goals and four assists in 23 games, it is no wonder that Qarabag called him back in the summer of 2022.

Owusu Kwabena scored two goals in the 2022 Champions League qualifiers (one against Fradi and the other against Zürich) before taking on French first division Nantes, Greek star team Olympiacos and German top flight Freiburg in the Europa League group stage. goal as well, with which he helped his team to 3rd place in the group, which qualified for the spring European Conference League. Of course, the 25-year-old player also produced well in the Azeri league, with five goals and three assists in 18 games, which placed him in third place on the goalscoring list.
