Ovetchkin climbed when Jonsson Fjällby made his NHL debut: “Nice company”

After 117 matches in the AHL, Axel Jonsson Fjällby finally made his debut.
Then Washington won 5-3 over Buffalo.
– It’s a nice company to be in and there are quite large numbers now, so it’s just working on, says Alexander Ovetjkin after his 741st goal in his career which means that he is now fourth in the league’s goalies through the ages.

Axel Jonsson Fjällby managed to make 117 appearances in the AHL before he finally made his debut in the NHL for the Washington Capitals.

When the capital team received the Buffalo Sabers at home, Jonsson Fjällby was noted for a total of 5:44 in ice time and was responsible for a tackle and two blocked shots.

And as usual, it was Alexander Ovetchkin who made the headlines when, with his eleventh goal of the season, he made sure to take further ground in the hunt for Wayne Gretzky’s goal record of 894 goals. The Russian forward’s goal against Buffalo meant goal 741 in his career and he is thus now equal to Brett Hull in fourth place in the league’s goal of all time.

– I only take it day by day. It’s a nice company to be in and there are quite large numbers now, so it’s just working on. It’s fun to be in a shared fourth place, but I have a few matches left to play, says Ovetjkin.

Ovetchkin’s chain with Yevgeny Kuznetsov and Tom Wilson was noted for three goals and four assists in total.

– I think we have played well, but in recent matches we have wanted to play better. I think we really stepped forward today and led the team, we drove the bus in a way. When “O” and “Kuzy” play as they do, I just try to give them the puck and it has worked quite well, says Wilson who scored two goals in the match.
