Southern California Patriotic Song Competition Honors Republic of China History
LOS ANGELES, CA – August 30, 2025 – Over 200 overseas Chinese gathered in Southern California today for a patriotic song competition organized by the Luosheng Jieren Society, celebrating the history of the Republic of China adn honoring those who defended it. The event, held on August 30th, featured singers competing in men’s, women’s, and chorus categories, with attendees waving Republic of China flags and visibly moved by the performances.
The competition aimed to awaken ancient memories and cherish the sacrifices of those who served during times of conflict, particularly the War of Resistance. Cao Jingyong, president of the Luosheng Jieren Society, emphasized the importance of remembering the “martyrs and soldiers and civilians who sacrificed their lives for the country.” She stated that promoting patriotic songs is “not only sung, but also a way to awaken historical memories.”
Singers participating in the competition expressed a focus on inspiring audiences rather than winning awards. Host Lin huiyi and her mother, Zheng Jingping, opened the event by singing patriotic songs intended to encourage and inspire.

A panel of five professional judges, including former Ministry of National Defense Art Corps member Yang Zhennan, and music teachers Fang Bixia, Long Hao, Han Heyuan and Lin Ruoxuan, evaluated the performances. The event concluded with a collective performance of “Plum Blossoms” led by previous champions and the judges, uniting performers and audience members in a display of patriotic spirit.
