The one who has lived in Vaudreuil-Dorion for 64 years got hooked for books when her children were of school age. Since then, she has been going back and forth to the library several times a week.

These days, the 85-year-old reads about five books a week. For her, it’s a way to keep learning.

“I only read books that bring me something,” she says. I have nothing against novels, but books on medicine, for example, on subjects in particular that interest me, it sticks in my head and it is rich in knowledge. “

The former travel agent is also a fan of books on the culture of other countries. She has also gotten into the habit of doing a book or two on her future destinations before going there.

“I have always loved traveling and when I went to other countries, I recognized certain things and that allowed me to go even further in my immersion there,” she explains.

This is just one example of the ways in which reading takes interest further. “I am naturally curious and books allow me to satisfy this desire to know more,” says the reader. I take advantage of it while I still have a good memory and good eyes. “

In addition to books, Mireille Bédard also rents records from the library in order to discover music. “It’s my other passion,” she says. I always discover beautiful songs. ”

She also participates in several activities organized there like conferences or workshops. Ms. Bédard is lucky to have access to it, which has not always been the case.
