Oslo, Drowning Accident | Lifeless man (33) retrieved from bathing water

A 33-year-old man died in a drowning accident in Badedammen on Grorud in Oslo on Friday night.

The fire brigade arrived at the scene with, among other things, divers around 9 pm on Friday night. The search crews started searching both in the water and in the rest of the area.

– There has been a search in the water here and a while ago a man was found and picked up. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was initiated, but unfortunately life could not be saved and the person in question is confirming death, says operations manager Thomas Broberg to Nettavisen’s journalist who is on site.

The police inform on twitter that the man is 33 years old. The man’s relatives have been notified and are being taken care of.

The task leader confirms that the man was not alone, but with several others. He was reported missing as they had not seen him for a while.

Divers from the fire service were on duty in the area.

The swimming pool is a dammed lake just below Stenbruvannet in the Grorud district in the far north of Oslo. This is a popular hiking area and much used bathing spot. There were a lot of people in the area when the accident happened.
