It is his second Academy Award, after his role as Hannibal Lecter earned him his first Hollywood gold in 1992. He has since been nominated five more times. The elderly Briton was not there to receive the award. His profit is striking, because actor Chadwick Boseman (Ma Rainey’s black bottom) was the obvious winner for months.

entertainment">Frances McDormand won met Nomadland – a realistic drama about the nomadic lifestyle of Americans affected by the economic crisis – her third Oscar as Best Actress. She was previously honored for her roles in Fargo (1996) in Three billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017). Nomadland was also voted Best Film and director Chloé Zhao also received the prize for Best Direction.
