The Alicante Film Festival will award, one more year, an award dedicated to those who put music to cinematographic works, the ‘Music for the image’ award, which in this new edition will be awarded to the composer Oscar Navarro, one of the main figures in the world of film soundtracks in our country.

Óscar Navarro has composed numerous works for the cinema; Among his works in the audiovisual field, the soundtrack for the film stands out “The Mule” which was nominated for Best Original Score at the 2014 Goya Awards, or the soundtrack for the documentary film “Dreams of Salt” winner of the Goya award for best documentary film 2016 and winner of the 2016 Spanish Film Criticism Award for best national soundtrack.

The noveldense will receive the award ‘Music for the image’ during the closing gala of the Festival, which will be held on June 5 at the Teatro Principal in Alicante. This award was created 8 years ago to give visibility to music in cinematographic creations.

In previous editions, composers such as José Nieto, Antón García Abril, Pablo Miyar, José Vinader, Juan Bardem Aguado, Carmelo Bernaola, Ángel Illarramendi and Pascal Gaigne received this award.

Biography Óscar Navarro

Born in 1981 in Novelda, He was trained at the Allegro International Music Academy in Valencia, later being selected by the prestigious University of Southern California. Navarro has made recordings of his music for cinema in major Los Angeles studios such as Capitol Records, Paramount Pictures or Warner Bros. Upon completion of his studies, he was awarded the ‘Harry Warren Endowed Scholarship for Scoring for Motion Pictures and TV’ award as the most outstanding student of his class. He has also collaborated composing the BSO in various short film projects.

His music for film has exceeded twenty awards between awards and nominations that have come from Spain, United States, Italy, India, France or South Africa and has numerous national and international awards for composition. Its soundtracks have been performed and premiered in major concert halls around the world, highlighting orchestral and band ensembles such as The Cleveland Orchestra (Ohio, USA), BBC Philharmonic Orchestra (UK), Moscow Radio Orchestra (Russia). ), The Hollywood Studio Orchestra (Los Angeles, USA), Kiev Radio Orchestra (Ukraine), Walt Disney Hall in Los Angeles, Carnegie Hall (New York, USA), Musikverein (Vienna) or the National Auditorium of Spain, among others.
