Oscar-Glamour in Los Angeles – FFH.de

Before the beginning of the Oscar gala, stars and guests usually crowd the red carpet in front of the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, but this time everything is different because of the corona pandemic: Shortly before the 93rd Academy Awards ceremony, nominees met – by far – on a much smaller piece of carpet in front of Union Station in Los Angeles.

The historic station building is the main venue for this year’s Oscar show, with Glenn Close, nominated for best supporting actress, stepping into the spotlight in a glittering blue trouser suit. British director Emerald Fennell wore a flowery frilly dress. Leslie Odom Jr. shone in a gold-colored tailcoat, Colman Domingo in flashy pink.

In addition to the Oscar nominees, 18 filmmakers are invited as prominent helpers, including Halle Berry, Reese Witherspoon, Harrison Ford, Joaquin Phoenix and Brad Pitt. There is no gala presenter this time; the show, designed by director Steven Soderbergh, should run like a movie.

Due to Corona requirements and the associated travel difficulties, international locations are also planned from which Oscar candidates can be added.
