Orlando, Florida: Airplane Evacuated Because of Emo Squirrel – News Abroad

Little animal, big chaos!

A plane had to be evacuated at Orlando (Florida) airport on Tuesday evening (local time) – because a squirrel was on board!

But the rodent hadn’t sneaked into the cargo hold or whizzed through one of the front doors. A woman had brought the squirrel on board as a matter of course – as “emotional support”. When she refused to leave the plane with the animal, the crew called the police, among other things, “The Guardian“Reports.

The security forces finally got all the passengers out of the plane and, after boarding again, let passengers back on the plane. The woman and her squirrel were taken to another terminal. The Video of an annoyed passenger shows how Orlando Police officers push the loudly protesting woman in her wheelchair through the waiting crowd.

Frontier Airlines flight 1612 from Orlando to Cleveland, Ohio, was approximately two hours late due to squirrel excitement.

In the United States, it is not uncommon for animals to be taken on board as “emotional support animals”, for example for disabled people. The squirrel owner also announced that she would take an animal with her when booking – but did not mention that it was a squirrel.

And so she violated the airline’s conditions of carriage. It states that “unusual or exotic animals” are excluded from transportation. These include rodents, reptiles, insects, hedgehogs, wild birds or “insufficiently cleaned animals or bad-smelling animals”.
